Le Monde Diplomatique
Le Monde Diplomatique is a French monthly newspaper, devoted to the analysis of key global issues of our times. It is published in 20 languages, and reaches over one and a half million readers worldwide.
The paper offers a serious and independent analysis of social, political and economic issues, and reports on international developments often ignored by the mainstream press.
Its critique of neoliberalism, militarism, the power of finance capital, and north-south relations have made it a moral and intellectual reference point for those interested in social justice and world affairs.
The paper's writers are experts in their fields who propose practical solutions to their readers in clear, literate and often sparkling prose,
The online edition is available in French and English.
An English language paper edition can be obtained as a supplement of the Guardian Weekly, and by subscription.

Les Amis du Monde Diplomatique is an association founded in 1995, with the initial objective of ensuring the paper’s independence.
In conjunction with the staff, Les Amis succeeded in purchasing 49% of Le Monde Diplomatique’s capital, and the association now serves to promote the paper and provide a space for democratic debate on contemporary issues, encouraging the development of alternatives to neo-liberal thought and policy. Les Amis now forms a broad network with over 60 branches world-wide. There is information about the various branches and their activities on the website of Les Amis du Monde Diplomatique at this point here.

The rigorous investigations and positive attitude of contributors of the newspapers as well as of the Amis and Friends worldwide stimulate practical action to combat social injustice at a Global Level
For example, they inspired the founding of ATTAC, the international campaign to tax currency speculation, and the launch of the first World Social Forum at Porto Allegre, Brazil, in 2003
